Kano Drops Epic 8 Minute Freestyle

The godfather of grime, Kano has just unleashed an amazingly good freestyle for Charlie Sloth’s Fire In The Booth segment on BBC Radio 1 Xtra. Kano delivered his rhymes in the true ‘just havin’ fun with it’ style that he was known for on his Home Sweet Home album.

After spending the best part of three years working on his 2016 ‘seminal’ album, Made In The Manor, he looked and sounded almost relieved and exhilarated to be kickin’ back with an epic freestyle.

Check out all incredible 8 minutes below.

Kano ends the freestyle saying, “I’m Mr. Everyone-went-right-I-took-the-left/ Now who’s is best, me or Wretch?” Wretch, for anyone not street ready, is Wretch 32: a UK rapper best known for his album Black And White, and all Adidas and Coke Ads during the 2012 London Olympics. I would give the “who’s the best” award to Kano. He introduced me to grime and to UK hip-hop, ain’t nobody got shit on him. One of my favourite tracks of all time is his Sometimes.

Even Stormzy and Wretch agree with Stormzy posting on Twitter his support for Kano’s new album:

Kano released Made In The Manor last week, explaining to the Newham Recorder that he “wanted it to come earlier – it just wasn’t in a place where I was happy with it yet. When people hear the record, I think they’ll understand the depths that it took to make this.”

After checking out the freestyle be sure to check out Made In The Manor.
