Jai Paul & Brother A.K. Paul Announce Mysterious New Project

Ever the man of mystery, UK producer Jai Paul has teamed up with his brother A.K. Paul to launch a shadowy website titled The Paul Institute.

Reading like an internet scam the website greets users with the words: “Welcome to the Paul Institute. Please enter your number to enrol.”  In exchange for entering a mobile number, the website provides a code granting the holder access to future updates should they come to light. While Pitchfork has confirmed that the website is legitimate, there have been no further details forthcoming.

Surfacing in 2011, Paul’s BTSTU single created some serious buzz. Despite signing to XL recordings, the elusive producer has released next to no material in the time since. Following up with the R&B infused electronica of  Jasmine in 2012, the single was met with frenzied approval from fans, critics and fellow artists alike. An unauthorised cut of Paul’s debut LP was reported to have been posted on Bandcamp in 2013, but the album was quickly removed.

A.K. Paul is also a talented producer, best known for a collaboration with  Nao titled So Good. The brothers were last sighted appearing in 2014 in an Instagram post hanging out with Miguel. Whether this was simply the trio hanging out or was intended to tease a collaboration remains a matter of speculation.  While the former seems likely there’s no shortage of anticipation for what the Paul brothers might be cooking up.
