The video is also the directorial debut from actress Olivia Wilde, and was filmed entirely on iPhone 6s.

As you could infer from the album title, PersonA primarily deals with the concept of identity and persona. Something that has been in the backdrop for Ebert, with his assumed the pseudonym Edward Sharpe. Though approaching the release of the album, the moniker has appeared with a strikethrough – Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros – indicating the “death of the persona” according to Ebert.

The idea is reflected in the video, and according to Wilde the idea was purely coincidental in matching up to Ebert’s own concept. Discussing the project, Wilde offered up the following; “OK, I want to pitch this to you, and don’t take this the wrong way, but my idea is you’d be at your own funeral.” Which is exactly what the six minute long clip portrays.

Awaking in a desolate, urban setting, Ebert meanders through empty streets until he meets a procession of masked dancers. Shot in New Orleans, the masquerade as the feel of the city and its famed Mardi Gras. Interspersed with experimental dance and beautiful shots of Ebert singing, the video culminates with Ebert willingly getting into his own coffin.

Described as the band’s “most visually arresting and provocative to date”, No Love Like Yours is well worth a watch. Not least because of the beauty of this latest effort from Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros. Already garnering glowing reviews, this song is just the first hint of “The band’s most risk-taking, freewheeling album yet.”
