EDM Officially Dead: Avicii Quits For Good

Well, there you have it folks. EDM is dead. Not really, but their cult-lord, Avicii, has called it quits.

In a lengthy blog post that was shared on his Twitter with no fanfare at all, the Swedish EDM king has announced that the string of tours and shows he has been booked for this year will be his last. Cue the tears of brusses and brussettes around the world as they pour some out whilst playing Levels and fist pumping.

“My path has been filled with success but it hasn’t come without its bumps. I’ve become an adult while growing as an artist, I’ve come to know myself better and realize that there’s so much I want to do with my life,” He writes after detailing many, many personal thank you’s. “I have strong interests in different areas but there’s so little time to explore them.”

Yes, there would be so little time considering he is one of the biggest names in music, well, EVER. He went onto detail how a two week journey across the US with his “friends and team to just look and see and think about things in a new way” brought this epiphany onto him that maybe, just maybe, there is more to life than EDM. Who’d of thunk it?!

Devastated fans can find solace in the fact that Avicii will still use his music as a means of communication with his fans as he will “never let go” of his music, but did leave everyone kind of hanging when he said this to end: “One part of me can never say never, I could be back …but I won’t be right back.”
