Fresh from news he’d recently built a playground in his father’s hometown in Nigeria, just last week Skepta and the boys from Boy Better Know hit it very large with a Boiler Room party that seems like it was off chops.
Big names Skepta, Shorty and Frisco, as well as DJ Maximum were the prime highlight of the 25 minute set, with some appearances from Jammin and AJ Tracey. You can tell from the get go that this isn’t a traditional Boiler Room set at all. Where there’d usually be a stationary camera facing the decks and the performers, there’s two people holding cameras getting pushed around what is basically a mosh right down the front. Can you blame them? This set is absolutely huge, with verses from all the MCs huge catalogues, and grime blowing up more and more everyday.
The only way is up for BBK. With Drake signing to the label last month, no doubt his high profile will allow for some connections and collaborations that will shoot them even further into the mainstream. That said, at the rate they’ve been going, they probably don’t need the help anyway. We can’t wait to see what they do next – no doubt it’ll be as off the hook as this performance.
