PREMIERE: Listen To T.Era’s Spitfire Cypher

Today, we’re really excited to premiere a raucous new cypher from Sydney’s own crew T.Era.

The artists who hail from Sydney’s south-west, have been working with non-profit organisation Heaps Decent, who do some really brilliant work bringing creative arts to disadvantaged youth.

Heaps Decent travels across Australia, visiting school and more, putting on workshops which invigorate and encourage youths to learn about, and express themselves creatively through music and visual arts. It’s a really wonderful opportunity for marginalised and underprivileged youth to engage in a kind of creativity and expression they may not be able to access otherwise.

One of the core aspects to Heaps Decent’s work is their Home Base workshop in Redfern, Sydney. The weekly workshop sees kids learning about beat-making, songwriting and more, with a studio space to create music of their own in a professional format.

T.Era is a group of these upcoming artists, who have joined forces, and are now releasing their first cypher – and boy, is it impressive. The crew, made up of Rassel Cool, Ravin, Young Hush, Tommy Gunnz & Kurtis T, trade spitfire bars for five minutes straight atop a classic beat from DJ Adam Bozzetto.

For anyone who thinks Australia doesn’t have much to offer in terms of quality hip-hop, well, this is going to straight up change your mind. Guaranteed.

Filmed and directed by Hugh O’Brien and Sam Boneham, watch the freestyle below, filmed at the Goodspace Gallery at The Lord Gladstone in Chippendale.
