I never thought I would have the absolute pleasure of penning these words, but Sydney prog band COG have returned from the dead. It’s been nearly six years since the three piece disbanded, following more than a decade of touring and releases, including two stellar albums, The New Normal (2004) and Sharing Space (2007).
The seventeen-year-old within me – not to mention Cog’s fiercely loyal, Tool Army-esque fanbase – is having a heart attack right now, because the boys are back, and they’re heading out on tour. I never thought this would happen. But I’m so glad that it has.
The tour kicks off on July 8 in Byron Bay, and wraps up a week later in Sydney. There’s no word yet whether this means a new album or EP will be getting announced in the meantime, but I’m crossing my fingers and toes that some new material is on its way.
