Watch Client Liaison Perform With Daryl Braithwaite

Bringing festivalgoers into the new year, Victoria’s Beyond the Valley festival boasted an absolutely stellar lineup.

Not ones to be upstaged by international headliners Jamie xx, Skepta or Pusha T,  Melbourne’s Client Liaison had their very own surprise in store.

Fans might have been expecting the group’s usual offering of Australiana infused 80’s pastiche. But taking things one step further, Client Liaison treated punters to a surprise performance with Aussie icon Daryl Braithwaite. Proving that time had not diminished his live act, the veteran singer took the stage to deliver a sing-along rendition of 1990 hit Horses.

While the majority of viewers may still have been in nappies at the high point of Braithwaite’s solo career, the singer’s celebration of Australian identity and evolving hairstyles are no doubt a seminal influence for Client Liaison.

Topping Aussie charts over period of 20 years, Braithwaite kicked off his career in 70’s hit machine Sherbert. Acting as frontman, Daryl mixed themes of romance and cricket to deliver classic hit Howzat. The singer later split with the band in 1984, but had a second swing at success with 80’s soft rock anthems like As The Days go By.

The surprise appearance opens up possibilities of future collaboration.

Client Liaison will be releasing their debut album in 2016.
