Sydney Festival Holding David Bowie Tribute Tomorrow Night

Month-long music, art, culture and arts celebration Sydney Festival is currently taking place around the city. In the wake of David Bowie‘s tragic passing, organisers have now announced that a tribute event will be taking place tomorrow night.

The free event kicks off tomorrow night (Wednesday January 13) in Hyde Park. The Meriton Festival Village will kick off its festivities just after 6 pm, with two (yes, TWO) free DJ sets. The first one will run from 6:15pm-7:30pm, but for those who can’t make that one – or just wanna dance some more – there will be another hour long set from 8:45pm. So come on, get down, don your favourite Bowie outfit, and get ready for an amazing night, celebrating the life and art of one of world’s greatest.

David Bowie died on Sunday, following an eighteen month battle with cancer. He had just turned sixty-nine years old and released his twenty-fifth and final album, Blackstar. The entire world has been shaken by the event, with literally millions of tributes pouring in from all corners of the globe – and beyond it. Furthermore, news stories have been pouring in, including Rough Trade records offering to donate all profits from Bowie albums to cancer research, and author Neil Gaiman even publishing a gorgeous fan fiction ‘origin’ story about the Thin White Duke.

Check out the Sydney Festival website for full details, and get down to the Meriton Festival Village between 6.15-7.30pm and 8.45-9.45pm for the boogie times!

Spotify have put together a brilliant Bowie playlist, taking you through his entire career. Enjoy:
