Savages Release The Haunting Video For ‘Adore’ Ahead Of New Record

Fans of London four-piece Savages have waited what seems like an eternity for the follow-up to their chart-storming debut record Silence Yourself, released all those years ago in 2013. The wait is almost over, as we’re out of the gate in 2016 and their sophomore album Adore Life is due to land on January 22nd.

In an effort to whet our appetites just that little bit more and hype everyone up for the release, Savages have this week released a brand new track, the third single to be released ahead of the album, and its accompanying visuals. It’s the absolutely stunning Adore. Watch it here:

If the beautiful combination of that low-down bass, ethereal guitar licks and the gorgeously powerful vocals from frontwoman Jehnny Beth reverberating around it all in the intro doesn’t send shivers up your spine then there may be no hope for you. The sound you hear around the minute and a half mark is feedback drenched guitars and also your jaw hitting the floor. As quickly as the chorus crescendos it falls away again into a slow burning verse, building up to a wall of sound again, going up and down before the end brings you to your knees.

It’s a rollercoaster of a song and a cathartic experience to listen to. The music video is suitably intense, with a deliciously dark Sinead O’Connor vibe coming through with all the closeups. Adore kicks an unbelievable amount of ass though, and does an excellent job in showcasing the phenomenal set of pipes Jehnny Beth has in her possession. It’s a dark and dirty ballad that will grab you by the throat.

If you’re hitting the repeat button again and again on that one and can’t wait for the album about to follow, you’ve only got to hold out until it drops on January 22nd via Matador Records/Remote Control Records. Hopefully a tour with a stop or two in Australia isn’t far off after that.
