Listen To Lido’s Touching Cover Of David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’

Norwegian producer Lido has added to the flurry of touching David Bowie tributes, by posting a beautiful, fittingly space age tribute to the Starman in the form of a Space Oddity cover.

The track was posted with a simple, heartfelt message:

“To celebrate the life of the late great David Bowie, last night I put together a cover of my personal favorite out of his catalogue: Space Oddity. Thank you for everything.

Salute, Major Tom.”

Lido’s tastefully futuristic cover progresses and changes again and again, bringing the listener along for the stunningly cosmic ride. It’s a truly unique and deeply personal tribute from the electronic artist, who, like countless other musicians, count Bowie as a major influence and inspiration in so many ways.

Lido’s cover joins an ever-growing heap of emotive, heartbreaking tributes to the late artist, who passed away this week at age sixty-nine. Yesterday, local rockers Gang of Youths released their own spine-tingling version of Heroes, while others have sought to arrange tributes, pen essays, share their memories and so, so much more.

David Bowie suffered from liver cancer for the past eighteen months, during which he recorded his twenty-fifth and final album Blackstar. Read our obituary here.
