Kendrick Lamar has had a busy week on television. First, he debuted an incredible brand new track, Untitled 2, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Now, his full performance on PBS’ long-running Austin City Limits has eben released in all its glory.
The hour-long program was originally taped in October of last year, and the Compton rapper is backed up by the band, The Wesley Theory which accompanied him on his Kunta’s Groove Sessions tour in 2015.
Kendrick Lamar and the band showcase alternative renditions of some of his biggest hits from To Pimp A Butterfly including U, These Walls as well as a powerful take on I. They also throw in several tracks from his sophomore album, good kid, m.A.A.d city giving them a somewhat more upbeat jazzy feel.
The Compton rapper has been unable to stay out of the public eye, consistently making headlines, be it featuring on a snippet of a new track by Kanye West, to releasing the intense short film God Is Gangsta, to penning essays, influencing David Bowie, and so much more.
Kendrick Lamar is nominated for 11 awards at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year and Best Rap Performance for iconic track Alright.
Lamar will also be performing in Australia this March – full details can be found here.
