Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is very, very nearly over: Kanye West‘s new album Swish finally has a release date.
Taking to Twitter, the rap superstar announced the news we’ve all been waiting for:
Swish February 11 16
— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) January 9, 2016
The news follows today’s release of a brand new track, Real Friends ft. Ty Dolla $ign and a snippet of a Kendrick Lamar-featuring track, No More Parties in LA. Add to this last week’s diss track Facts, and you can hardly say that the man has been idle of late.
Although the former two tracks were reportedly written in the lead up to 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, fans have rightfully speculated that these releases indicate that the new album is on its way. Swish will be the long-awaited follow up to 2013’s incredible Yeezus.
Last year, Kanye West released All Day, Wolves, FourFiveSeconds, Jesus Walks and Only One, collectively featuring Sia, Vic Mensa, Rihanna and Paul McCartney. As to whether these tracks will feature on the upcoming album is as yet unconfirmed, but we can no doubt expect more information to unfold throughout the next month.
West has also just been confirmed as headliner for New York festival Governor’s Ball.
