“This Fucking Disgusts Me”: Charli XCX Slams BBC For Airing Men’s Rights Documentary

British pop artist Charli XCX has been remarkably vocal throughout her career in regards to opinions feminism, misogyny and women in the music industry, most recently (and most notably) through the release of her new documentary on feminism, The F Word And Me.

XCX has called out BBC Three for airing a men’s right documentary titled Men At War, created by Reggie Yates. Yates’ documentary aired on the channel at the prime time 9pm slot, while hers aired afterwards at 10:30 pm.

According to The Independent, Men At War reportedly shows how “some believe their own rights are being endangered by the social justice movement led by women and the LGBT community.”

XCX has taken to Twitter to voice her complaints and concerns – both at the fact that the documentary took the better time slot, and of course, the content of the documentary itself.

She was prompted by this short video trailer showing a pretty awful depiction of, well, men, posted to Twitter by BBC Three. According to a speaker, “Men are not allowed to speak their views”, apparently.

“Something has happened in the past 50 years where women are no longer trained to submit to a man, to serve a man. The very idae of beauty and aesthetics is being demolished to where now women are being applauded and encouraged to look like fat, outer space cyborgs.” [At this point presenter Reggie Yates gives a pretty worried look to the camera.] “Women and gays are superior to straight men. Anything that a woman or a gay person wants is theirs. But anything you want, sorry, we cannot help you.”

Yeah, so, we can kinda understand why XCX had JUST A BIT of a problem with this documentary taking precedence to her own.

“This snippet is terrifying and annoying,” She wrote in response. “I made a doc for BBC3 which was shown at 10:30 on a Tuesday when a lot of my audience were unable to watch. This doc seems (from this snippet) to be discussing feminism in an entirely negative light and is shown prime time at 9pm.”

The singer went on:
