PREMIERE: Get Lost with Ed Wells’ New Video ‘Snow’

If James Blake were to ever make folk-tinged blues music, it would probably sound something like Ed Wells. Hailing from Sydney, Wells has become a citizen of the world already at just 21, having lived in London, Hong Kong and NSW, and now possesses the type of worldly sound that only travel can bring about – and his latest single, Snow, is perhaps the best example yet of what he can do.

It’s been a long time between drinks for Wells, who released his last single in January. However, not wanting to let 2015 get away from him just yet, he has made the wait very worthwhile with this track. Soulful, brooding, emotional and captivating, Wells effortlessly shows off his hell of a voice and his penchant for intricate rhythms and organic production to full effect here. Not to mention the added enhancement of the stunning video, which sees Wells himself wander through some truly beautiful landscapes before ascending a snow (get it?) covered mountain.

It’s all rather uplifting although the lyrics perhaps suggest otherwise, and with both elements combined it holds Wells in quite good stead for the coming year. Not really fitting into any one genre, but fitting into many just the same, you can be pretty sure Snow would be an absolute ripper live – and only hope there is more where this came from!

Sydneysiders, if you want to catch Ed in the flesh, head to Brighton Up Bar on January 7 to see him supporting Franklin Electric. Details & tickets here.
