Deadmau5 sneaks out of hospital to play Miami gig

One of electronic music’s biggest names, Joel Zimmerman (known professionally as Deadmau5), was hospitalised last Thursday due to a severe lymph node infection.

The Canadian-born DJ and producer was committed to an unidentified hospital and subjected to medical tests to determine the cause of some seriously swollen glands.

Despite being hooked up to an intravenous drip and receiving doctor’s orders to remain in bed, mau5 deftly snuck out of hospital the following day to fly to a pre-scheduled performance for Red Bull Music Academy in Miami.

After completing the gig the DJ promptly caught a return flight and was back in bed before his absence was noticed.

The itinerant DJ has since been released from hospital.

Deadmau5 responded to concerned queries to whether he was recovering earlier today, stating ‘probably. have another appt. on tuesday. err… tomorrow. with my shit luck, ill probably live to be 100.’

While the DJ is dismissive of his condition, it is not the first time he has put his health on the line over his touring commitments. In 2010 the producer was forced to cancel a number of US tour dates after collapsing from exhaustion mid performance at a Washington club.

The DJ’s 8th studio LP is near completion and expected to drop in early 2016.
