Hip hop legend and entrepreneurial heavyweight, Dr Dre has taken to his Beats 1 Radio show to premiere never-before-heard music. The artist has a weekly radio show, The Pharmacy, and on the most recent edition, he shared Naked, an original track featuring Marsha Ambrosius and Sly Paper, as well as a gorgeous new tune from Anderson .Paak, The Season/Carry Me. He ALSO premiered the new Pusha T remix of R.I.C.O, by Drake and Meek Mill.
He went on to talk about how he does do a lot more recording that we’ll never get to hear. In his words, it is “not for the public.” He went on to explain, “The majority of it is not for sale. If you’re a recording artist, or any type of artist, everything isn’t for sale.”
Joining Dre in this episode was Anderson .Paak, as well as King Los and Jaylo Felony.
It’s interesting that we’re hearing more Dre music so soon after the blistering Compton, his first album in seventeen years, released only three months ago (read our album review here). Not that the track is exactly a brand new one recorded post-Compton, but any output from Dre at all is sure to be heralded with both excitement and uncertainty. Yes, he told us that Compton was to be his “grand finale” – but perhaps those creative juices haven’t stopped flowing.
