Artist to watch: The Brinks

We love discovering new music to share with you guys, and today we’d like to introduce you to new two-piece The Brinks, a collaborative duo consisting of Australian singer Scott Mellis, and New York-based producer Matt Friedman.

The first track we’ve heard from the duo is Hide Your Love, a smooth, refreshing offering of soulful, melodic indie pop. With a bouncy beat, tropical-inspired rhythms and a rich, catchy melody, it’s the kind of track that appeals to fans of so many different styles; considering how utterly overlapped electronic, indie, alternative and pop music is becoming these days, we can surely expect to be hearing more and more music like this, picking and choosing elements from all corners of the musical globe. It’s a refreshing take on an over-saturated sound, so I’m looking forward to hearing a lot more.

The Brinks are set to drop their six-track debut EP Temporary Love this Friday. They’ve pulled in two HUGE names as executive producers: G.O.O.D Music president Pusha T and Salaam Remi, who has produced for Amy Winehouse, Miguel, Nas and Alicia Keys. So we assume it’s going to be pretty special.

We’re not the only ones feeling The Brinks; Hide Your Love has also been picked up by the one and only Pharrell Williams, who has locked the track in for a spin on his Beats 1 Radio show this Saturday, December 5.

Temporary Love drops on Friday December 4. Order it here.
