WATCH: Childish Gambino and Heems – in 2012

Way back when in 2012, Childish Gambino, a.k.a Donald Glover, collaborated with former Das Racist rapper Heems for a track called Tell Me, off his solo mixtape Wild Water Kingdom.

While a video wasn’t released at the time, it seems one has now resurfaced from the dark recesses of the internet to delight us with more Gambino-related goodness. The unofficial black-and-white video shows Glover and Heems rapping into the camera while engaging in some good old-fashioned hedonistic hotel fun.

Trayvon Martin’s name pops up while the camera moves manically between the two rappers in a motion-sickness inducing, yet slick, cut of the video.

The video originally surfaced via jointheorg, a video host on YouTube who’s by line reads, “THE ORGANIZATION® presents CHILDISH GAMBINO – “TELL ME” FT. HEEMS the exclusive unreleased music video.” It then states underneath that video is directed by a man known only as Max.

The mysterious description does nothing to reveal the true origins of the video, but in it Glover raps about having a broken foot, which he actually did break in 2012, so it can be assumed that the video was filmed around then.

Glover has previously collaborated with Heems on his track Womyn 2, from Heems’ 2012 mixtape Nehru Jackets. Glover is here in Australia currently for Listen Out, which is happening in major cities all round Australia.

Unfortunately his set in Melbourne was marred by sound issues, which resulted in some festival-goers simply leaving. Performing in Sydney on Saturday, let’s hope his set doesn’t have the same kind of technical issues the festival has experienced so far.
