LISTEN Conference 2015 updates

If there’s only one event you attend during Darebin Music Feast, you should probably make it the LISTEN Conference. Don’t get us wrong, the entire program, which will lead us ever so nicely into Melbourne Music Week, is great. In fact, you should head over to the website to chuck a look at the whole thing. But with 35 panelists, 8 workshops and panels running over two days, the inaugural LISTEN conference is where it’s at for us.

Working to “spark and cultivate discussion and documentation around women and LGBTQIA+ people’s involvement in music'” and work toward a more inclusive and safe music experience, LISTEN is running a great two-day program focused on diversity, inclusiveness and community engagement. The conference will hold panels discussing safer spaces, gendered sound and the confidence gap as well as zine making and music mixing workshops. These are important conversations that not only need to be had, but need to be heard and galvanize. If every one of us at Howl and Echoes were in Melbourne, it’s safe to say we’d probably all be going.

There have been a few changes to the conference since it was announced earlier this month, but things are still shaping up to give us a couple of top-notch days. You can grab tickets and more info via the LISTEN website.
