Kendrick Lamar Announces Australian Shows

FINALLY! Kendrick Lamar has today announced he will be returning to Australian shores next year – his first appearances since his supporting slot on Eminem‘s Rapture stadium tour in early 2014.

Announcing just three dates, King Kendrick will be hitting the 2016 Bluesfest, as well as sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney in late March. The Bluesfest bill was already boasting some pretty huge names like The NationalCity and ColourNoel Gallagher and Tom Jones, but the news that they are now bringing Kendrick Lamar over is a whole new level.

Lamar also announced he will be bringing a live band for his shows, which is exciting news for those who are fans of the full, eclectic mix on his latest album, To Pimp A Butterfly. That album saw him catapult into greatness, receiving a Grammy for his efforts as well as contributing to the new wave of civil rights movements in the USA. Just this week, a protest chanted his lyrics for Alright (taken from TPAB), which has been a regular occurrence since the album dropped and consequent politically-charged video.

Tickets go on sale Monday 19 October at 9am AEST with a pre-sales starting early on Friday 16 October. For more information go here, and for all your Bluesfest info you can head here.

Sideshow dates:

March 21: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
March 23: Allphones Arena, Sydney
