Beat Spacek Announces One-Off Intimate Sydney Show

Beat Spacek, perhaps better known to some as Steve Spacek, is a name synonymous with dance music. A masterful producer, acclaimed performer and frequent collaborator, he’s as known for his solo work as he is for his collaborations with artists including Mark Pritchard (the duo came together as Africa Hitech)Katalyst and of course, the late, great J Dilla.

Spacek has just announced a one-off performance at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, where he’s set to share his latest project iOS MIXTAPE, alongside a delicious selection of never-before-heard material. iOS MIXTAPE is a project with a really cool, totally unique idea behind it – basically, the entire thing was created using nothing but iOS apps no phones and tablets. It was played on BBC 1 Radio in September, when Benji B shared the complete 60-minute project with the world.

Now, this is a particularly modern, space-age project. So what better way to release it than on…….. cassette tape, right? At least that’s what Ninja Tune, his label, have decided to do. If you’re extra lucky, you’ll be able to pick up one of the few copies of this part-futuristic, part-relic piece of merch on the night.
