Thank your lucky stars: Beach House have a new album on the way

In August, Baltimore dream-pop duo Beach House unleashed their fifth full length album, Depression Cherryupon the world after what seemed like an immense three year gap between releases. Possibly the band’s most accomplished offering to date, the LP was lush, hazy, surreal and decidedly unpolished in comparison to previous released. Complete with a choir enlisted to wrap the entire thing up wonderfully with Days of Candy’s 24-part harmony, Depression Cherry presented what felt like endlessly gorgeous new material to settle into before Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally hit Australian shores for the Laneway dates early next year.

Now, not even two months later, Beach House have announced via Twitter that they’re dropping a 6th LP – next week. Set for release on October 16th, the album is titled Thank Your Lucky Stars and it’s going to be available both digitally and on vinyl. Legrand and Scally stress that this new full length is a beast all its own: it’s most certainly not a companion to Depression Cherry, nor is it a collection of b-sides:

Following the fresh, somewhat liberated, approach taken with Depression Cherry in it’s “return to simplicity” and the language surrounding the upcoming album being “released the way we want”, it seems like Beach House have truly taken hold of their sound and direction once more and we couldn’t be more excited.

Thank Your Lucky Stars is out October 16th and Beach Hose will be appearing at Laneway dates around the country.
