Thurston Moore announces December tour

The former Sonic Youth guitarist/singer Thurston Moore is returning to Australia this december under the moniker of The Thurston Moore Band. The low-fi legend will be delighting fans with an array of his material stretching back to his first solo album Psychic Hearts, all the way through to his latest effort The Best Day released in 2014 by Matador Records.

As well as his own work, Moore is set to perform a collection of Sonic Youth singles aided by former band-mate Steve Shelly. It will be the first time he and the former Sonic Youth drummer have performed together since 2007. Sonic Youth blazed a musical trail through the late 80’s into the nineties, known for their no-wave rock’n’roll and for raiding Peter Frampton’s cooler in the Simpsons. The Thurston Moore Band tour kicks off in Auckland on December 3rd before moving onto Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

For those of us east-coasters who missed out on tickets to Meredith Music Festival; where Moore and his band joins an absolutely stacked line-up, we can at least rejoice in the fact that we can catch the music pioneer on his own headlining tour.

Don’t miss out on what will surely be an excellent show that brings sonic-auditory bliss to all music fans!

And to get you excited check out Thurston live on KEXP performing the title track from his latest album The Best Day.

Pre-sale tickets are available for Frontier members on the 23rd of September before general sale kicks off on the 28th.
