Loon Lake announce new single ‘Radiator’ and final tour dates

Melbourne’s music scene was dealt a terrible blow when it was announced that Loon Lake was calling it quits after six years together despite only have release one album thus far. They’ll embark on a bittersweet national farewell tour, allowing fans to catch one of their favourite acts in concert for the last time.

The band broke the back news back in August, with a detailed post on Facebook:

“There is no fall out, no drama here, It’s just over and it was fun while it lasted. We are very, very proud of what we have achieved over the last 6 years, to be honest, we never really set out to achieve anything except have a bit of fun, but even in our wildest dreams, we couldn’t imagine it would be this fun.

“Loon Lake isn’t breaking up, we are just winding up. We are all still best mates and that wont change. Our reasons are simply that we feel like we may have run our course, we probably won’t ever be much more than we are and with everyone doing different things, living in different places, it’s pretty hard to keep it going.”

Ironically, after spending most of 2015 writing and recording, the band believes its produced some of their strongest work to date for their sophomore album. After the critical success of Just Now, comes Radiator, which frontman Sam Nolan explains came about when, “I wrote all these verses about different girls I had met over the years, funny little stories about them and put it together to make it into one imaginary girl.”

Radiator is characteristic of their Victorian surf rock roots and raucously celebratory in tone despite it being one of their last offerings. The flurry of sounds makes for catchy guitar jabs and steady beats, which are infectiously unforgettable; evident of the their dynamic musicality.

Loon Lake’s latest singles Radiator, Just Now and Surfin‘ are available now via iTunes & Spotify.

The Looners will embark on their Final Wave tour this October and November, playing in Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, before bringing it home to Melbourne.
