Melbourne duo RaRa are quickly becoming one of my favourite acts lately. Having only recently discovered them, there is something about their blend of RnB, hip hop and pop that I just can’t get enough of, and it’s only a matter of time before many, many others catch on too.
Having released an EP last year titled Pink and Teal, the boys have returned triumphantly with a new single and new EP on the way. Taken from the forthcoming PLANET2016 EP, Faries is the first taste of what RaRa have been up to, and what a taste it is. It’s a seductive slow jam that not only shows off the development in the production side of things, but their lyricism as well. Having four vocalists wouldn’t exactly be the easiest thing to manage, but RaRa pull it off like it’s no thing at all with each member providing something unique to the track equally, and each playing a vital role.
Furthermore, they’ve also now released the accompanying visuals for their lead single, in which they explore the sheer beauty of Yarra Ranges National Park but what looks like some sort of otherworldly terrain so as to keep with their intergalactic concept. Adding yet another dimension to their fascinating sound, Faries paints a very exciting picture of what is still to come from RaRa, and we can’t wait to see where they take us next.
PLANET2016 is out October 23 via Zero Through Nine.
