Neon Indian drops new single ‘Slumlord’

Neon Indian, a.k.a Alan Palomo, has revealed the second single of his album Vega Intl. Night School. The genre-melting offering is called Slumlord and demonstrates Neon Indian’s energetic production skills with a psychedelic and upbeat number that smacks of 70s nostalgia.

Following in the footsteps of previous single Annie, Slumlord is a single that spans several contexts. Having already clocked up over 140K SoundCloud streams, the track is a sure to be a summer favourite, something you can listen to while the sun beats down and the water lazily laps nearby.

The follow up to 2011’s Era Extraña, Palomo’s new albumVega Intl. Night School departs from the usual style of Neon Indian, offering an aesthetic that’s both new, and a reference to the past. Bursting with excellent songwriting and musical production, the album’s disparate feel can be attributed the to variety of locations it was recorded at, among them a cabin aboard a cruise ship, DFA’s Plantain Studios in NY, Pure X’s practise space in Austin and Ben Allen’s studio in Atlanta.

Palomo returns to Australia this summer with a series of live shows and appearances. He makes his first stop at the the beloved Victoria festival Meredith Music Festival, followed by a series of headline shows coming to the East coast. Check out the dates for it below.
