Listen to the hard-hitting new single ‘Fractured’ from Guilty Simpson

Gearing up for the release of his third album Detroit’s Son in just a few short weeks, Motor-City ambassador Guilty Simpson has dropped a fresh single, Fractured. It’s a follow-up to last month’s first single Vanguard Organisation.

It’s a mark of a bygone era in rap to feature such a bone-rattling organic drum beat accompanied by a huge hard rock riff, but Guilty Simpson makes it work. Fractured sounds like it would be best played through a boombox on a street corner. His rhymes are spat in the kind of gruff and uncompromising manner long associated with Detroit, a city Guilty Simpson name-drops frequently and his lyrics delve you deep into a life in the same city that has produced Eminem, Danny Brown and J Dilla, the man who gave Guilty his start. There’s a Down Under connection here as well, the entire album overseen by Australian producer Katalyst, one of the founding members of hip hop army; Quakers.
