Let Uptown Funk You Up One Last Time

Yes, yes, I know. You’ve listened to this song a million times on the radio, you complained when the song reached number 6 on Triple J’s  “Hottest 100″, but if you are going to listen to one more rendition of Uptown Funk, let it be this one.

The Mark Ronson-produced, Bruno Mars-featuring track has made countless rounds on the internet, with remixes and covers and of course, last week at Splendour in the Grass, where Ronson headlined. But we think that this version takes the cake.

YouTube user “dondrapersayswhat” has spent three months working a grand total of 280 movies into a cover of the track, a feat that I am unsure whether to describe as either genius or absolutely insane. The video itself spans Hollywood classics such as The Godfather, Back to the Future, The Terminator and The Breakfast Club. Perhaps the most important feat however, although the song itself is quite repetitive, the video hardly repeats any lines from any particular movie (which probably explains why it took three months to complete).

Once you get over the idea that a line of a song can be started by Arnold Schwarzenegger and finished by one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this is an incredibly impressive project, and one that deserves attention.
