JOY. releases new single ‘About Us’

The majorly talented producer JOY. (who we interviewed earlier this year) is back with new single About Us, a ethereal sweeping arrangement of the Brisbane native’s trademark enchanting and whispery vocals. The song is just another sublime offering from the 17-year-old and offers a taste of what is to come from her 4-track self-produced EP Ode, out on the 28^th August.

JOY. (real name Olivia McCarthy) caught the attention of audiences earlier this year after winning Triple J’s Unearthed Feature artist and performing at the Brisbane leg of Laneway Festival and Field Day 2015. She’s featured on a Peking Duk’s Like a Version cover of Take Me Over and has just been announced as the support act for Miami Horror on their national tour this August followed by an appearance at BIGSOUND.

Speaking about her debut, JOY. said that:

“Over a week in May I locked myself in my studio consuming only coffee and doughnuts, and these longs nights resulted in me making a lot of whack shit. Out of the abundance of beats, material and ideas that I had collected over the past few months, from writing on the road and at home, I found a common thread and felt like these 4 tracks told a good story from start to finish. I’m really excited to finally put out a whole body of work, and for people to cop it in one go.”
