The Laurels Get Even More Psychedelic, Announce Tour With Nick Allbrook

The Laurels are a band that have become synonymous with the Australian psychedelic scene, especially in terms of live shows. However, their latest single Zodiac K is really psychedelic – even for them – but we certainly aren’t complaining.

In fact, we are more along the lines of celebrating, as any new release from The Laurels is a very good thing, indeed. It’s been a long time between drinks for the band who released their debut LP Plains in 2012. Complete with hypnotic and gentle vocals, random vocal samples, and drumming courtesy of Decoder Ring‘s Jasper FentonZodiac K is the shoegazing, blissed out soundtrack to one hell of a dream.

To celebrate the release, the Sydney band have also announced they will be hitting the road this August, embarking on a co-headlining tour with none other than POND frontman/ Ex-Tame Impala bassist/master of the weird and wonderful in his own solo work, Nicholas Allbrook. Toether, they’ll be hitting Melbourne, Brisbane, Wollongong, and Sydney throughout the month in what will undoubtedly one memorable night of mind melting psychedelia.

The Laurels are on tour throughout August with Nick Allbrook.

Saturday August 1 – John Curtin Bandroom (Melbourne)
Thursday August 6 – The Brightside (Brisbane)
Friday August 7 – The Great Northern (Byron Bay)
Saturday August 8 – Uni Bar (Wollongong)
Saturday August 29 – Volumes 2015 (Sydney)
