Peking Duk are back with Say My Name

Back again after an astronomically successful last year with huge hits High and Take Me Over, Canberra duo Peking Duk are back with new single Say My Name.

The track features vocals from Benjamin Joseph, described by the duo as “A man of mystery, an enigma.” The track premiered on Triple J yesterday. A more rock-infused track, Say My Name is a departure from Peking Duk’s usual dance-friendly, electronic brand of music and is disappointingly mediocre in comparison to the feel-good, get-up-and-go music that we’ve come to love.

Of course, we aren’t saying that artists can’t change their sound or anything like that. We’re just not feeling this one particular song – and it also, separately, happens to be really different from their last few tracks.

Rumour has is that a debut album is in the works and should be expected to come out sometime late 2015, so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of sounds it’ll feature. Taking to Facebook to talk about the impending album, the duo have said that the album is “underway & making our balls tingle.”

Talking to Billboard last year, Hyde said of the album, “We have a lot of music in the works and a lot of exciting collaborations. We’re trying to keep most of it under wraps at the moment so when we have the final product it will be a present to the people.”

We can’t wait.

In between making new music, the duo Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles have been playing some pretty big festivals like Coachella and are also scheduled to play Lollapalooza, HARD Summer and Electric Forest, as well as a Friday night appearance on the Mix Up Stage at Splendour in the Grass in Byron Bay.

Following an extremely successful last year, where the two achieved no less than two Top 5 placements in Triple J’s hottest 100, reached number 5 on the ARIA Music Awards of 2014 with High, as well as the same song winning Best Dance Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 2014, 2015 looks like its shaping up to be just as favourable for the producers.
