Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique, the Swedish artist’s new project comprised of herself, her keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt, and her late producer Christian Falk, have released their first track as a collective called Love is Free.
It certainly marks a departing from Robyn’s contagious pop-anthems of the past. The ode to early ’90s house music features New York-based, Mad Decent-affiliated Maluca. It combines the ambient feel of the era’s zeitgeist with Robyn’s hypnotic vocals for a cool, laid-back track which will have you gyrating back-and-forth on the spot wherever you are.
“You have to let go in order to be happy”, said Robyn in an interview with FACT Mag about the story behind La Bagatelle Magique.
Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique have announced a show in Stockholm at Dans Dakar on August 21-22. They’ve also confirmed their one and only American show this year, appearing at Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco the weekend of October 17-18.
