Listen to Crooked Colours’ epic MGMT cover

I’ll bet you’ve never heard MGMT quite like this.

The original version Electric Feel is undoubtedly one of the best electro-pop tracks ever. One of the Big Three phenomenal singles on MGMT’s debut Oracular Spectacular, it’s gone on to become a staple in any coming-of-age film, party playlist, and festival crowd-pleaser.

Then Crooked Colours came along and covered it.

The Perth trio, which we’ve covered a few times already (including these wonderful live photos) have been crafting an edgy, mysterious brand of dance music — and they’ve brought that sentiment to the MGMT classic.

Eerie and dark from the get go, it starts off sounding more like an early Nine Inch Nails track than a feel-good hit. But there’s no hiding that familiar melody, even behind the sensual, husky vocals.

Covers are always best when they sound entirely different than the original. It’s hard to cover such a well known track in any form, and Crooked Colours has done a stellar job.
