It’s been three years since Lianne La Havas released her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough? Having found instant acclaim and recognition (including an iTunes Album of the Year award and a Mercury prize nomination,) the 25-year-old is getting ready for her next offering.
In that time, the London-based singer-songwriter has toured with Bon Iver, featured on Alt-J track and Prince tracks (Foothills and Clouds, respectively) and played shows the world over and taken a trip to Jamaica to reconnect with family and heritage. Now she’s back, with stunning new music and a video clip to boot.
Upon her return La Havas worked on her follow up full length offering, which was produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, FKA Twigs). Blood is set for release on July 31 and we’ve got the first single, Unstoppable to give us a bit of an insight into what to expect. You can watch the video for the song below, but be warned – you might fall in love with La Havas and her soaring, unique vocals and turns of phrase.
Blood was reportedly inspired by Lianne La Havas’s mixed Jamaican and Greek heritage. After an extensive tour, she visited Jamaica with her mother, learning about the culture and history, in turn experiencing “self-discovery.” As a result, the new album is a nod to the musical stylings of her family history.
