More good news from the Disclosure camp! Following on from the massive reaction to their latest singles Bang That and Holding On, the UK’s favourite brothers have some big news to share. Their second album, Caracal, will be released September 25th of this year.
Howard Lawrence and his brother Guy explained the name alongside the announcement. “A caracal is an incredible wild cat that I became fascinated with while on tour last year. I just love the way they look, their physical capabilities and their anonymity. It felt like a perfect fit for our Wild Life brand too, so the caracal made perfect sense as the lead visual for the new album and over the course of recording, it also felt like a natural title for the new record too.”
They made the announcement alongside the video below, with a link to pre-order the record as well. The new album’s art, the outline of a carcal’s face, is an obvious throwback to the human face silhouette of their debut 2013 album Settle.
The album will follow on from Disclosure’s monumental debut, a crowning achievement for the young brothers and one of the best electronic albums in of 2013. It’s safe to say that they’ve got a lot to live up to, considering the explosive reaction to their first. From what we know so far (or from what we’ve heard, anyway,) it looks like they’re heading in a slightly darker, less commercial direction. And we’re pretty excited about that.
Though there are some huge shoes to fill for Disclosure, the tracks they’ve released so far are hyping Caracal as one of the biggest records of the year. September couldn’t come quickly enough.
Disclosure are no stranger to Australian shores, so here’s hoping a new tour will be announced around the album release. We may no longer have Future Music Festival, but we do have Listen Out, Stereosonic and Falls Festival toward the end of the year, hint hint…
