Moses Gunn Collective head Back Into The Womb with new single

Brisbane psych rockers Moses Gunn Collective have been a favourite of mine for quite some time now (if you have had a chance to see them live, you’d know why), so it’s very exciting indeed to hear brand spankin’ new music from the fivesome!

After the success of their EP, Morning Shakes, released late last year, it was only a matter of time before more new tracks began to emerge from Moses Gunn. Back Into The Womb is a song that has featured heavily in their live shows, and now finally is being released as a single. The band said of the track, “Life is a one way ticket with no returns. We were all blind, deaf and dumb in the beginning, but also safe. The urge to return to this simple existence lingers, whether we know it or not. We’re always thinking about this weird shit.” Weird shit is right, but when it’s put into a context such as this song, it doesn’t sound too weird at all. The falsetto harmonies, the groove, frontman Aidan Moore‘s Jagger-esque lead vocals – Back Into The Womb is hopefully indicative of what is still to come from the band, and it really is about time it received some attention!

Taken from the forthcoming album, Mercy Mountain, the band retreated to the hills recently (literally) to record the LP. After playing a few free shows around Brisbane since then, it seems they are well and truly ready to bring their new sounds on the road, with the first few shows supporting The Jungle Giants on their national tour. Whilst I’m much more of a fan of the psych-pop tunes of Moses Gunn than The Jungle Giants, and wholeheartedly believe the former will one day very soon be performing on their own headline national tour, this will be a great chance indeed to hear some of the new material first hand. It will, as always, be a hell of a show!
