You know an artist is incredibly talented when they enjoy deconstructing and reworking their own tracks. Last night, Jamie xx did exactly that, when he shared an edited version of his upcoming album on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show.
Jamie xx has been streaming his debut solo LP, which is due to come out on the first of June all this week. Being the amazing artist that he is, he’s also included fantastic visuals for songs such as Gosh, creating a truly immersive experience.
Now he’s gone a step further and offered reworks of all his favourite tracks, as well as speaking about them. The new LP includes Girl, Sleep Sound, Loud Places, which features the gorgeous Romy, Gosh, and I Know There’s Gonna be (Good Times). The album is truly stunning, using simple patterns of beats and vocals that layered with incredible subtlety. They are both nostalgic and inherently original.
