Art of Sleeping reveal intense new video

With their debut album Shake Shiver set to drop on July 17, Brisbane’s Art of Sleeping have revealed their latest single and accompanying video. The indie rockers say that the new album will be much like the title – jammed with juxtapositions from subtlety-crafted folk to raw rock inspired by the Queensland summer. The group teamed up with Swedish maestro Lasse Marten who has previously worked with Lykke Li, Sarah Blasko and Franz Ferdinand to add another layer to their work, as well as enlisting Tom Iansek of Big Scary who helped with some of the more experimental aspects of their sound.

As a result comes their latest single Voodoo, a rasping indie track that deals with crippling heartbreak. These sentiments are packed into its video clip. The video sees lead singer Caleb deal with a rather violent haunting from his presumed ex-girlfriend. Her hands continuously punish and slap him, without ever showing her body – progressing into him imagining her vicious presence. Whether it simply reflects his own inner turmoil or more deeply flips the concept of domestic violence on its head is up to the viewer. Regardless, with his man bun left in tatters by the end (tragic), it’s a powerful video for a smashing song that promises great things for the upcoming album.
