Secret Garden Festival: Sydney’s best kept secret

Sydney’s Secret Garden Festival was started for two reasons: to create the best/most unique weekend festival and secondly to raise a shitload of cash for charity. Last year Secret Garden raised over $100,000 for charities like Oxfam, Sarah Hilts and the Girls and Boys Brigade, all the while giving punters a festival experience they’ll never forget.

The parents of Secret Garden, Lynnie and Edgar Downes, haven’t made a cent over the 6 years the festival has been running, and are gearing up for their biggest year yet. If you’re one of the lucky holders of a ticket to Secret Garden we advise that if you see Lynnie or Edgar, be sure to hit them up with a huge high five, or even go for a high ten if you want – go NUTS!

Secret Garden has pulled its biggest ever lineup this year with over 60 bands and DJ’s confirmed. Canadian trap-lord Lunice (one half of now defunct TNGHT alongside Hudson Mohawke) will be a monster highlight of the festival, bringing us his brand new live show – along with his brand new EP Cant Wait To. Another overseas act to get excited about are Parquet Courts, and the lovely Sharon Von Etten. Locally, Client Liason and their hairstyles are coming off the back of a huge 2014 and are set for one of the best time slots of the weekend. Hot Dub Time Machine will be around  to bring us back to the future, RUFUS‘ Juan De Sol is DJing, Milwaukee Banks, Grace, Oisima,  Little May, Willow Beats, The Griswolds, Gang of Youths, 200-piece band Velociraptor  and DMA’s sister act Little Bastard lead the stellar selection of artists.

Dressing up is am absolute MUST at Secret Garden. If you don’t dress up you may be mistaken for a volunteer and forced to participate in a nine-hour shift of gruelling work – YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO DRESS UP.

Secret Garden is set to be one of the biggest festivals of the year and only has one official one policy: NO DICKHEADS. Similarly to Meredith Music Festival, a dickhead is defined as “Someone who is entitled, disrespectful, individualistic and no welcome at Secret Garden.” So be sure to bring your best vibes, dances moves, costumes and enjoy.

All details below. It sold out weeks ago, so hopefully you weren’t waiting on the lineup!
