I fell in love with Seu Jorge‘s music at the same time as most of you probably did. Do you remember those beautiful Portuguese covers of David Bowie songs on the Soundtrack to The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou?
I know you do, and if you don’t here’s a little taste:
Rebel Rebel
Changes
Life on Mars
Seu Jorge is the man responsible for those and he’s playing two special shows in Sydney and Melbourne next month! He’ll be bringing his Brazilian vibes straight over from Rio de Janeiro to brighten up our summer and serenade us with his gorgeous tunes.
Bowie himself commented on Jorge’s covers, “Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs acoustically in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he’s imbued them with.” If it’s good enough for Bowie, it’s good enough for me.
Jorge’s songs traipse between samba, reggae, pop, electronic and more in a way not only utterly intriguing, but wholly unique and original. He’s collaborated with the likes of Beck, Talib Kweli, Jack Johnson, Thievery Corporation and more.
His live shows are renowned for their energy and intimacy, and this is your chance to catch the man in action live.
