Brisbane jazz-infused-psych-rock outfit BOSS MOXI are calling it a day… For now. However, that hasn’t stopped them from releasing their unique blended sounds until the bitter end. That’s right, their last gig for an “indefinite amount of time” is tonight, but their latest single is released tomorrow! So, although you might not be able to SEE the band, you will still be able to hear new material being released from the depths of their seemingly endless pool of talent.
Nymphomaniac is their latest release. The short track is a bit dark, a bit mysterious, and features a growl, a la Nick Cave/Gareth Liddard or even Kirin J Callinan, that I just can’t get enough of. It’s also a deviation from their last track, Song of Joan – not that that’s a bad thing. Quite the opposite actually, as both tracks show the band in a different, more mature and pretty fascinating light.
It is a shame they’re hanging their hats up for the time being; I feel like they are onto something really good here. However, I commend them on their choice of send off – Brisbane fans can get down to The Zoo TONIGHT to say “see ya later”, as well as seeing other Brizzo faves Shady Bliss, Salvadarlings, and Twin Haus! Hear Nymphomaniac below (also peep the stunning cover art)!
