Vic Mensa Announces New EP, “The Manuscript”

Vic Mensa has announced a new EP, The Manuscript, via a short teaser video shared to social media. There’s little information other than the release date: tomorrow, June 8. He also notes it will be the first of a two-part release.

One year ago this week, the Chicago native released one of the most poignant, thought-provoking EPs of 2016 with There’s A Lot Going On. His most personal and accomplished work to date, we’ve been waiting for his full-length follow up ever since. It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer though, as Vic’s label, Jay Z’s Roc Nation, have confirmed The Manuscript to be another EP:

After months of silence, news began bubbling last week when Andrew Barber of Chicago blog FakeShoreDrive revealed he had recently heard Mensa’s new album in its entirety, and that it will be out in (USA’s) summer. Barber added that it’s an “easy contender for album of the year,” that it harked back to the older Roc Nation beats, and will feature guests including Pharrell Williams, Chief Keef, Rivers Cuomo, Joey Purp and The-Dream.

Whatever it is, we can’t wait.
