Now in its fourth year, The Blurst Of Times has become a mark on the calendar each year signifying one of the best nights in Brisbane. With the 2017 event exactly a month away, the lineup had been under wraps for quite some time. Wonder no more as today organisers have given us the list and blow us all down it’s a ripper.
With a festival spanning three of Brisbane’s most euphoria-inducing venues in The Brightside, Black Bear Lodge and The Foundry and four stages, there is never a shortage of space to cram some of the best acts in the entire country.
Headlining will be Byron Bay party animals Skegss. Fresh off a national tour with Dune Rats that they somehow survived, Blurst will be the biggest show the boys have played in Brisbane to date and they’ll be leaving a crater in their wake. Also on the upper tier of the bill is intoxicatingly good singer-songwriter-bloody good performer Ngaiire, whose live sets put jaws on the floor.
One of the big surprises are Sydney howlers Royal Headache, who have been dormant since 2015’s fantastic sophomore record High (with some concern amongst fans), but they’ll be back and playing Blurst and will surely have quite possibly the most raucous crowd of the evening.
Joining them are local lads The Creases, who you can expect to play a few newies from their upcoming album, slacker goddess Alex Lahey, local upstarts and winners of last night’s QMusic Rock Award for the anthemic Poverty Line (expect that to go off like a frog in a blender) in Good Boy, lo-fi fuzz throwback aficionados Green Buzzard, blissful Sydney pop quartet I Know Leopard and so many others in what is one of the most jam-packed bills the festival has ever seen.
