Kanye West is Debuting “Famous” Video via Another Live Streamed Event

Kanye West heralded in a new kind of album premiere earlier this year, when he sold tickets to Madison Square Garden for the debut of The Life of Pablo, which was launched along with a runway debit of his latest fashion line. The event was live-streamed across the world, and was obviously a success, as he’s doing it again.
The Chicago-born producer is now set to unveil the visuals for controversial single Famous at the Forum in LA this Friday June 24, and the event will once again be live streamed to the masses via Tidal. Those lucky enough to be in town can purchase the tickets here for US$25 – they go on sale at 10am PST tomorrow morning. Some special Tidal subscribers will also be invited to access tickets.
The news comes amidst a new flurry of Kanye news, including the newly announced Saint Pablo Tour, which has already mostly sold out across the USA.

It’s interesting that he’s taking a premiere to the digital world like this again, and while it is clearly on a much smaller scale, it’s still Kanye, and that means this is going to be a pretty special event. While premiering TLOP through a live event was fairly unique, tying it in with his Yeezy Season 3 launch made it all the more interesting. West also recently attended the debut fashion show of Tyler, The Creator, who also used the live-stream event to premiere a new song of his own.

I suppose the main thing to be upset about here is that he has made his own visuals, instead of using the phenomenal parody video created by Masters of None co-stars Aziz Ansari and Eric Wareheim:

For those who’ve been keeping track, it’s also interesting that this announcement comes just days after Kim Kardashian conveniently Taylor Swift, announcing a convenient six months after the fact, that Swift had approved that controversial line (“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, why? I made that bitch famous“) in spite of earlier statements suggesting otherwise. It was a really smart way to get people talking about the song again, right?
