Radiohead fans around the world have recently learnt the fantastic news that a number of record stores around the world, including quite a few in Australia, will be participating in a special streaming event this Friday to celebrate the official album release of their newest album A Moon Shaped Pool. While at first information was scarce and mysterious, much like the launch of the album itself, we’ve now got some more concrete details on what will be going down all over the globe tomorrow.
According to UK record store Resident Brixton, the day will feature the following incredibly exciting outputs:
- An exclusive LIVE broadcast of specifically curated music from the band at 12pm UK time (which unfortunately is 3am Sydney time), on top of a two hour live recorded from their newest tour dates at 6 pm UK time (which, mercifully, is 9 am Sydney time). These are expected to feature songs from throughout their entire career.
- Artwork courtesy of Radiohead’s longtime artistic collaborator Stanley Donwood (who has worked on their album covers), for fans to take home. This includes “special two-part instructional artworks, based on his experiences creating the ‘a moon shaped pool’ album cover”
- PRIZES – fans can ONLY enter in person at the store: One lucky first prize winner will win a selection of the actual figurines used to film the video for Burn The Witch; two second-place entrants will be awarded screen prints designed by Stanley Donwood, and three third place fans will get to take home original 35mm prints from the beautiful Daydreaming video clip, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
It goes without saying that there’ll be huge amounts of people wanting to get along to these events and take home these fantastic prizes.
