Chance the Rapper Announces World Tour, Australian Dates Imminent

Chance the Rapper has announced the first leg of what’s looking like a massive Coloring Book world tour. The tour dates currently only include US dates, kicking off mid-September in San Diego and ending on October 21 in San Francisco, the below image, posted to Chance’s Instagram, specifically mentions, “Europe and Australia coming soon.”

The Chicago rapper has had an unbelievable 2016 so far. Kicking it off with the best feature on Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, he went on to release Coloring Book, easily one of the best releases of the year so far, and has recently been seen as the figurehead for the incredible shifts in the Grammy Awards rulebook, which now state that streaming and download-only releases will be eligible for awards.

It’s possible that Chance the Rapper will head down under for a new years festival or two, or that he’ll come for a headline tour (or both). But what seems equally likely to me, is that he’ll visit our shores as support for Kanye West’s Saint Pablo tour. West’s wife recently revealed that she  had spied 2016 Australian tour dates, and considering both artists’ respective US tours finish up just one week apart, there’s a big gaping hole in November and December that may well see West and his Chi-town protege head over together. I may be way off the mark – and it’s true that most of Chance’s US dates don’t coincide with Kanye’s tour dates – but Australia is really far away and really expensive to tour in, so if both artists are planning visits in November/December, it just makes sense that they’d do it together.
