Radiohead’s Thom Yorke Teases Jonny Greenwood & Crowd In London

Thom Yorke seems like a pretty funny guy. He’s got a voice to die for, and, as proven at a Radiohead gig in London last week, a sense of humour to boot. During a performance of Nude, guitarist Jonny Greenwood messed up, playing a note on his organ. The mistake sent a wave of giggles through the audience, and Yorke ceased singing immediately. “Well we’ll have to do it again,” he said as the band wound down. Greenwood proceded to play random notes on the organ, pretending to try to fix the issue. “Yeah we’ll do it again, why not? Are you in a hurry?” Yorke teased the crowd.

It kicks off after 45 seconds:

He went at the crowd again during Paranoid Android, after the first guitar solo. There’s meant to be a few bars of Yorke just wailing into the mic before the whole “raaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnn dooooowwwwwwn” part, but the crowd just kind of forgot about that. So they start singing the words, and Yorke is left saying “oh no no no, calm the fuck down.” Watch from 3:55:

It’s great to see that he’s having fun with it all, and it’s pretty understandable that the crowd would be excited. Radiohead are slipping little surprises into their shows, digging further and further back into their catalogue. The band are making their way across Europe and the USA, touring their new album A Moon Shaped Pool. No doubt there will be more hijinks in later shows!
