MØ Shares New Track “Final Song”

Danish artist is back with a new track, her first release since last year’s Kamikaze with Diplo. Final Song premiered this week on Annie Mac’s Beats 1 show, it was produced and co-written by MNEK (Beyoncé’s Lemonade collaborator) and Noonie Bao (Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen).

The track is another shining example of MØ’s brand of alternative pop; infectious vocal lines and anthem choruses. There’s the familiar edge of an old school pop song but it gives way to tropical tinged melodies and dance floor beats. In the accompanying press release, MØ offered the following comments on her new track:

Final Song is about reconnecting with your inner strength. With your inner glow, passion, spirit animal, whatever—the force that keeps us going and doing what we love. I wrote it with MNEK and Noonie Bao—both of whom I adore—in Los Angeles earlier this year. We all need to feel empowered from within to be the best version of ourself, but it’s not always easy and that’s what inspired me to write these lyrics. When you’re united with your inner glow you can beat the fears and fly towards your dreams.”

This release come ahead of MØ’s sophomore album, the follow up to her acclaimed 2014 debut with No Mythologies to Follow. A busy touring schedule since the first record, plus some massive collaborations, like Lean On with Major Lazer, has slightly scuppered her attempts to find time to write. Not that I imagine she’s complaining! However, with up to maybe forty songs under her belt, MØ has been in the process of curating and editing new material ready for her next release.

Already aware of the fact that “it’s got to be fucking brilliant if it’s gonna last”, her second album will be highly anticipated after the success she has already enjoyed. MØ is also about to embark on a world tour, that will see her playing dates right through to December of this year.
