Dej Loaf is a name you need to get to know. One of the best female rappers in the game right now, she is fierce, fiery-tongued and doesn’t give a fuck what you think. This is why I love her.
It’s been a while since we have heard from her. In July last year, she released an EP titled #AndSeeThatsTheThing, but has kept relatively quiet despite its success. However, fans can now rejoice as she is set to finally reward our patience with a brand new mixtape!
Sharing a teaser on Instagram today, featuring a snippet of the new music she has been working on, we see Dej walking in the sun rocking some yellow Beats By Dre headphones and some weirdly fluffy sneakers. Walking in the sun in an empty industrial area, she looks rather unfazed despite the hard hitting track playing. Said to be titled Vibes, and taken from the forthcoming mixtape titled All Jokes Aside, it’s safe to say Dej hasn’t exactly been having a holiday these past few months – she’s been working pretty damn hard.
Coming out April 6th, I can’t help but hope that this tape serves as a wake up call to the world at large, which continues to sleep on her. Here’s hoping All Jokes Aside is as every bit incredible as we know it will be.
